TC110:Help Other Team Members Accomplish Their Tasks

Floatbuilding is a very common common activity for high school students everywhere and here at Hanover-Horton it is a huge tradition.  Every year since my freshman year of high school I have attended floatbuilding.  It is really one of my favorite times of the year because it really brings our class together.  We really do become a team in making a float to compete against the underclassmen. When I am at floatbuilding I make sure to not only do the work that is assigned but help other people get things done such as cutting bags to use for flowering, actual flowering, bringing salsa for the taco bar, or holding things in place so they can be drilled to the float.  Helping to complete the float is really a satisfying feeling, knowing that I contributed to something great.  I can proudly say that the senior class of 2014 has won the floatbuilding competition two out of four years, and tied for first place our junior year.

Helping others to accomplish tasks is very important in the journalism field as there are deadlines that have to be met and one of my coworkers could be struggling to get their work done.  I would then help them to accomplish the task of getting the story done or even help them get out there and get out to get a story.  Not only does it look very professional to have my work done and be helping my coworker but it also says a lot about personal character.

In my personal life, people know they can always come to me when they need help getting things done.  Sometimes, however, it can get me taken advantage of a lot because people will just assume that I will get things done when I literally can’t. For the most part, though, I have no problem helping people out as I know it is the right thing to do and people usually always appreciate it.  I want to be known as the type of person who would do anything for anyone-within reason-and always be there to help.
