P105:Use timelines, document steps you take, and evaluate your results in a problem solving process

This year, I am currently taking the Senior Transitions class that is offered by Hanover-Horton.  There are many things that need to be done in one semester, which can pose a problem for some students.  That is why there is a timeline printed out and made available to all students, so that we know when things are due and even if we miss a day of school we can still stay on top of things and make sure we move along the right track on the timeline.  I, personally, use the timeline a lot to map out the steps I am going to take in order to finish up my benchmarks and create my portfolio.  Without the timeline, I would be completely lost as to when things were do and the pace I was supposed to be going at.

In journalism, there are going to be stories and articles due in a specific amount of time.  Sometimes you will have to create timelines for yourself in order to make sure that whatever project you are involved in or in charge of is going smoothly and you can meet the deadline.  Documenting the steps taken in order to finish the work is also very important.  If I were to not document the things I had and hadn’t done, I would get confused and things could become unorganized very quickly.  Finally, once the project or story is done, I am going to have to be able to evaluate the steps I took and how well they worked and use them to my advantage for the next time.

In my personal life, there have been many situations where I have to get specific things done and get them done in a timely manner.  One way I like to plan out my day sometimes is set up a timeline or itinerary with times and places on it just so I am certain I get to where I need to be.  I then cross off things as I go so that I can see exactly what else needs to be done, then at the end of it all I stop and think about how well the process I used worked.  It really is an important skill to possess because if you are unorganized and do not do things n a timely matter, people will think you are lazy and sloppy and that is not an attractive person to start any kind of friendship or relationship with.
