P106: Use charts, graphs, or graphic organizers to demonstrate organizational skills

All through High School, I have taken it upon myself to make sure that I have a planner each school year.  Some people wonder why I still use it because, generally speaking, mainly underclassmen use them to help remember their homework.  However, I would be completely lost without my planner.  I write not only homework and my class schedule in it, but any extracurricular activities and even my work schedule.  A planner to me is a huge help.  At the end of the day, instead of spending ten minutes pondering if I have homework in certain classes, I can just open up my planner, get what I need to get, and go home.  I am a very organizational person, I cannot stand clutter and things being “up in the air”  I do not have obsessive-compulsive disorder or anything like that, however, if I do not feel at least a little organized, thing get messy quickly.

In Journalism, it is of the utmost importance that you are organized, otherwise who knows what would happen.  If you were not organized, you could possibly lose a story you had written or even just important documents needed for the publication.  As a journalist there are many things involved such as dates, places to be, times, and even details of your articles that need to all be in one place.  If you have no organizational skills such as keeping your schedule straight in a planner, you could overbook your days, have to cancel jobs, and even let down the paper in certain circumstances.

Personally, keeping my schedule straight has helped me tremendously.  If you are not organized in your personal life you could let certain friends down if you tell them you will be there for them and then realize that you have a prior engagement.  Unorganized people are sometimes someone else’s least favorite kind of person and if you are constantly late and are just a complete mess, nobody will ever take you seriously be it in the business world, or your own personal life.
